Starting every June, Smarty Pants and Miss Dena perform the Big Balloon Show at over thirty public libraries all over Illinois for library “summer reading season.” With kids out of school, public libraries actively encourage young readers to keep up their literacy skills by coming into the library and checking out books. A big part of summer reading season is our show – not only does it give kids & parents a fun, exciting and completely unique stage production, but the Big Balloon Show also emphasizes the power of reading through our show’s message.

We recently performed at Glenside Public Library to present our brand new medieval themed production, a Midsummer’s Knight Balloon. I’m proud to say we not only enjoyed a sold-out audience for the show, but a very nice writeup recently appeared in a local newspaper.
